Foodbank Australia Appoints New CEO

Foodbank Australia has selected Kylea Tink as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 27, 2025. Tink replaces Brianna Casey, who has been at the helm since June 2016. The move comes at a crucial juncture, with food insecurity impacting almost one-third of Australian families, as identified by Foodbank’s annual Hunger Report. The 2025 edition is expected to be published in the next few weeks.

An Experienced Leader in the Nonprofit World

Kylea Tink has vast experience that benefits Foodbank Australia, having served in high-profile positions within both the not-for-profit and corporate worlds. She was the first CEO of the McGrath Foundation, where she was instrumental in developing breast care nurse coverage nationwide. Tink was also CEO at Camp Quality, which addresses support for kids affected by cancer. She was also managing director for Edelman Australia, a global public relations agency.

She comes from a diverse background that provides her with an in-depth appreciation of the opportunities and challenges of the nonprofit world, thus making her well-placed to steer Foodbank Australia towards the fight against hunger.

Fighting Australia’s Hunger Crisis

As the new minister, Tink is determined to address the root cause of food insecurity in Australia. She states that no one in the nation should be concerned about where their next meal will come from. Tink considers her appointment a chance to collaborate with committed individuals and organizations towards solving this real concern.

Foodbank Australia’s strategic direction is to raise more than $100 million each year to facilitate the national distribution of at least 120 million kilograms of nutritionally and culturally relevant food relief
This ambitious target is designed to provide food relief to every individual who accesses food relief.

A Vision for the Future

Chair of Foodbank Australia, Duncan Makeig, was confident of Tink’s leadership and said that her vision, energy, and experience will play an important part in shaping systemic change and managing the expansion of the organization’s flagship programs. The programs cover programs aimed at feeding Australian children, serving First Nations communities, regional food distribution, emergency preparedness and response, healthy eating promotion, and reduction of food loss and waste.

Looking Ahead

As Foodbank Australia begins this new era under the guidance of Kylea Tink, the organization is well placed to deepen its contribution towards ending hunger and food insecurity nationwide. With her long years of experience and passion for social contribution, Tink is poised to guide Foodbank Australia towards a future where food insecurity is a relic of the past.
